Welcome to BSOC STEM Camp 2025!

Bright Side Opportunities Center is proud to offer high-quality summer STEM programming without charge for rising 6th–8th graders in Lancaster County. Our mission is to ignite curiosity, build confidence, and expand access to exciting careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), no matter a family's income, background, or zip code.

Summer 2025 Camp Sessions

Our summer is packed with engaging, educational, and hands-on camp sessions designed to develop both STEM expertise and life skills. Scholars can enroll in one, two, or all three sessions, with each camp offering a unique theme and curriculum. Each two-week camp runs Monday–Friday and includes hot meals, gym time, field trips, and social-emotional learning to develop leadership and essential life skills. All camps run Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and include breakfast, lunch, gym time, and social-emotional learning.

Amplify Camp

📅 June 23 – July 3, 2025
In this creativity-driven camp, scholars will amplify their voices through invention and public speaking. Using the Open Mic module from Camp Invention, they’ll reverse-engineer a wireless microphone, brainstorm their own product ideas, and pitch solutions to real-world problems. With guidance from the 4-H Public Speakers Handbook, campers will sharpen their storytelling, persuasion, and public speaking skills, learning how to use their voices to advocate for meaningful change.

Food Detectives Camp

📅 July 7 – July 18, 2025
From chemistry to community impact, this camp dives into food systems, safety, and justice. Scholars will explore how food is marketed to kids, uncover the secrets behind ingredient labels, and learn how to prepare safe, healthy snacks. In week two, they’ll tackle issues like food security and food waste while designing solutions and tending to their own STEM Camp garden. This camp fuses biology, agriculture, and civic engagement into a two-week experience that feeds both mind and body.

Eco Action Camp

📅 July 21 – August 1, 2025
This camp immerses scholars in environmental science and public health, with a focus on lead safety, pollution, and water conservation. Campers will conduct field investigations, collect and test soil and water samples from local parks, and meet real scientists and advocates working in Lancaster and beyond. With hands-on environmental engineering activities and community engagement projects, scholars will gain the tools to protect both their health and their environment—becoming future eco-leaders and change agents.
